DOCUMENTS REQUIRED FOR STUDY AND WORK VISAS

 

REQUIREMENTS FOR NEW TEMPORARY STUDENTS PERMIT (STUDY / RESEARCH VISA)
NB:
1. Incomplete forms and outstanding documents will cause unnecessary delays.
2. All documents must be in English or translated in English.
3. All documents must be certified.
4. Application forms must be signed by applicant (themselves)
 
1.  TO BE COMPLETED AND SUBMITED BY THE STUDENT 
 
1.1 Completed visa application forms (Form number 3-1/0001) and a visa (form  number 3-1/0033)
(Application for temporary work or study permit and Application for visa forms)
1.2  Attach copy of travel document or passport (only pages reflecting the personal and passport details as well as the current status (visa or permit in the passport)
1.3 Two (2) passport photos
1.4 Medical Certificate (Original)
1.5 Radiological Report (Original)
1.6 Deed of surety
1.7 Police Clearance Certificate from country of origin and last country of residence (18 years or older)
1.7.1 Writen undertaking with valid contact details by both biological parents and copies of their identification (younger than 18)
1.7.2 Written undertaking with valid contact details by guardian and / or sponsor who is sponsoring your study in Namibia (younger then 18 years)
1.7.3 Previous qualifications
 
2.  PROOF OF ADMISSION FROM STUDY INSTITUTION 
 
2.1 Reason for studying in Namibia (motivational letter)
*Proof of acceptance / registration with study institution (In case of Minor Field Study: Invitation/Motivation letter from the Institution/Organization in Namibia connected to Minor Field Study)
*Letter from Institution of country where she/he is studying in case of a research
2.2 Proof of Medical Aid (travel insurance) and Accommodation in Namibia 
2.3 Proof if relatives residing in Namibia and their status 
 
3. APPEAL APPLICATION 
Prescribed fee: N$200.00 must accompany your Appeal application
 

 

Following are the list of requirements for Short Term Employment Permit Application (Up to 6 Months) .

  • Completion of visa application form
  • Accompanying dependents must complete a separate application form
  • Certified copy of passport (if in Namibia, attach current status)
  • Certified copies of qualifications (must be translated into English)
  • Motivation letter from the employer explaining the purpose of work and why Namibians cannot be employed.
  • Proof of tender/contract awarded
  • Filming application must attach a filming permit from the Namibia Filming Commission
  • Media applications must attach an accreditation letter from the Ministry of Information and Communication Technology
  • Tour operator application must attach a Namibia Tourism Board certificate from the Ministry of Environment and Tourism
  • Original police clearance from the country of origin (must be translated into English, applicable for application longer than 3 months)
  • Radiological reports (applicable for application longer than 3 months)
  • Medical certificates (applicable for application longer than 3 months)
  • If you are a government, organization, and/or agency which is applying on behalf of the applicant you must upload the Power of Attorney signed by the applicant to apply for a short-term employment permit.
  • Visa fee of N$1600.00 Upto 3 Months or N$3200.00 Upto 6 Months

Please Take Note: If you are applying for a period greater than 3 months Radiological Report and Medical Certificate form below will be required to be uploaded with your application.

In addition, if you are a government, organization, and/or agency which is applying on behalf of the applicant you must upload the Power of Attorney signed by the applicant to apply for a work visa.

Note:

  • An official translator must translate all documents or certificates into English.
  • All forms must be duly filled (clearly and legibly).
  • Submission of incomplete requirements will result to delay in application.
  • All permits are subject to the approval of the Ministry of Home Affairs before entering Namibia; therefore applicants who acquired permits from the other Namibian Ministries or Institutions are still required to get an approval from the Ministry of Home Affairs for it to be acknowledged.

How long does it take?

In general the process takes 2 – 4 months. However, the speed at which your papers will be processed depends greatly on your ability to furnish the Embassy with all the proper documents. It is always recommended that you send your application material far in advance of when your need them and that you make copies of your records before sending them through the mail.
